The Skillion Tiny Home Shell is one of our most unique tiny home shell options. Featuring a slanted roof and simplistic structure, its exudes modern minimalism meant to upgrade any space it is in. As with the rest of our tiny home shells, the exterior is customizable in a variety of ways so you have flexibility in the aesthetic you get. Choose between many color options, and siding materials, including vinyl, log, wood, and metal. Even add a porch to spice it up even more.
In order to live in your tiny home shell it must comply with the right building codes. That’s why we have already made our Skillion tiny home shells according to the 2018 IRC’s building regulations. Live in a tiny home with style and confidence!
Customizable Options on the Skillion Tiny Home Shell
Exterior & Colors
We’ll build your tiny home shell with whatever exterior you choose: vinyl, stained wood, painted wood, metal, or log siding. Combined with a metal or shingle roof, there are 100s of possible color combinations.
Structural Changes
Upgrade your tiny home shell roof to a steeper pitch, or increase square footage of the entire structure. For heavy use, upgrade floor joist spacing to 12″ on-center and add pressure-treated plywood flooring.
Windows & Doors
We offer a variety of windows from 18×27 through 30×36, as well as transom windows, flower boxes, and shutters. Various doors are available, including single doors, double doors, and roll-up doors.
Vents
Gable vents and/or ridge vent will help to keep your tiny home shell cool, well-ventilated, and free of excess moisture build-up. We have various gable vent styles available, including rectangles and octagons.
Porch Styles for the Skillion Tiny Home Shell
The Corner Porch
This is the simplest porch available on our tiny home shells. Corner porch dimensions are 4’x8’ and it features a railing, a window w/shutters, and a walk-in single door.
The Front Porch
Dimensions on this porch are 4’ across the full width of your tiny home shell. Railing, a window w/shutters, and a walk-in single door are also included.
The Deluxe Porch
This is our premier design, covering the full front of the tiny home shell and wrapping around the side. It includes a railing, several windows, and a walk-in single door.
Standard Features on the Skillion Tiny Home Shell
In order to offer a long-lasting tiny home, we construct every building with a specific set of high-quality materials. All our Skillion tiny home shells come standard with:
- 2×8 floor joists and rim board on 4×6 skids; all joists and skids are pressure-treated
- ¾” tongue-and-groove flooring with a 50-year warranty
- 9′ front wall and 7′ back wall framed at 16” on-center with top and bottom wall plates
- Single-slope roof
- 2×6 double headers at windows and doors
- Boxed-in corner studs for easily finishing the interior of your portable cabin
- Trusses with steel gussets, framed at 16” on-center
- A double door with a metal diamond-plate threshold
- Felt paper beneath roofing materials for increased roof longevity
- 2×6 rafters with collar ties and hurricane clips at every rafter
- Drip edge on all edges of the tiny home shell roof
- 6” to 8” roof overhangs, boxed in and finished with the same material as the siding
- A 10-year workmanship warranty on all tiny home shells.
